Greetings all. The first two months of the 2021-2022 fraternal year have been exciting. Following the three pillars of this year’s administration of Reclamation, Fundraising, and Guide Right, the New York Alumni Chapter has been very active and relevant for the manhattan communities that we serve. The members of our chapter continue to keep NYA first with our Social Action and Health and Wellness activities. We have continued our longstanding partner Convent Baptist Church, as well as new partners like the NYC Veterans Affairs Office, Room to Grow, and the National Society of Black Engineers.

NYA has been able to pivot within the pandemic by hosting hybrid chapter and board meetings. We have also kept our Kappa League program running in a completely virtualized format. Our Kappa League Director has found a way to offer our young men the program’s four major initiates and phases of the Kappa League. Also within Guide right, NYA has successfully hosted the annual haunted house by giving candy to manhattan community-based trick or treaters and offering a virtual haunted house experience for a worldwide audience.

Outside of Social Action, Health and Wellness, and Guide Right, All of our committee chairmen have stepped up to the plate to usher in the new administration. Without them putting NYA on their backs to usher in new and innovative ideas, the chapter would remain stagnant undeveloped, and not ready to transform into the NYA of the future. I would be remiss not to thank the new committee who came onboard well after the start of the fraternal year who has already made an impact on the chapter.

In closing, I’d like to thank every brother who has affiliated themselves with our beloved NYA. Together as a chapter, we will be successful by developing each other’s strengths, not pointing out each other’s weaknesses. There is a whole city that needs to see the best in us and now is the time to show the best in our membership.
