The World approaches the final breaths of 2021 AD. As we await the arrival of the new year, we reflect on the thoughts of Queen Elizabeth II on the 1992 challenges to the Tudor family as “Annus Horribilis”. Here’s to 2022. Humanity needs a fresh start to continue tackling the challenges of COVID 19 and the variants hurled at us—“ Vaccinate- Vaccinate—Vaccinate, Social Distancing and Live Healthy “!

As we march into the New Year, the choice is ours as to how we do this as members of New York Alumni. Will we be passive or will we confront our challenges with focus, vigor, and purpose? New York Alumni, like most organizations, lost momentum due to the restrictions of COVID 19. Thanks to our past and current leadership, we have managed to stay afloat— but, like the lookout on the Titanic famously warned the captain, “ Icebergs are Dead Ahead ”. Vigilance to important issues must be ours.

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is an organic chemical that contains genetic information and instructions for protein synthesis. It is found in most cells of every organism. DNA is a key part of reproduction in which genetic heredity occurs through the passing down of DNA from parent or parents to offspring. Members of Kappa Alpha Psi have a DNA in our “ psyche ” that identifies with leaders General Daniel “ Chappie” James, Percy Sutton, Albert Oliver, Congress member Hakeem Jefferies, the late Congress Member Alcee Hastings, Bill Russell, Gayle Sayers, John Singleton, Colin Kaepernick, Oliver Parson, Elder Watson Diggs and our Founders with so many other great men.

In case you forgot, here are the objectives of Kappa Alpha Psi:
– To unite college men of culture, patriotism, and honor in the bond of fraternity
– To promote spiritual, social, intellectual and moral welfare of its members
– To assist in the aims and purposes of colleges and universities
– To inspire service in the public interest
– To encourage honorable achievement in every field of human endeavor

So, welcome 2022, the new year, and the 111th year of our esteemed brotherhood’s existence this January 5. Put on your “Big Boy” pants and lead us to the promised land. Your country, Your community, Kappa Alpha Psi, and New York Alumni need your “A ” game. Let’s remember everyone we have lost. God bless!

Yours in the Bond,
Terrance C. Holliday
